There are so many amazing books coming out this year!! I can already tell that my TBR is going to increase considerably, and I will have lots of books to make room for on my bookshelf. I’m so excited for all of these upcoming books! So here is a list of my most highly anticipated 2018 releases all in chronological order from January to December! [click on the photos of the book covers for the book’s Goodreads link]
- Hamilton and Peggy!: A Revolutionary Friendship by L.M. Elliott – January 2nd
Any other Hamilton fans out there?? So… this book has already been released but it was still in this year, which is why I’m counting it in this list. I haven’t picked it up yet, but I need to really soon!! It’s the author’s take on Alexander Hamilton and his wife’s younger sister (who is a totally underrated character in the musical Hamilton)!! I haven’t heard too much about this book yet, but I’m excited to try it out and see what I think!
- Zenith by Sasha Alsberg and Lindsay Cummings – to be released January 16th
Sasha Alsberg is one of my favorite booktubers, and I’ve always loved watching Lindsay’s writing vlogs on youtube! Their book sounds amazing, and I’ve already pre-ordered it!! It’s a sci-fi novel set in space, which I’m totally here for!
- Heart of Iron by Ashley Poston – February 27th
You guys, this is an Anastasia retelling set in space!!! That sounds like exactly my kind of thing! I love retellings of Disney classics, and I’ve never heard of one based on Anastasia, which is such a great story!! This novel is getting such great reviews so far, and I’m so excited for it!
- Aru Shah and the End of Time by Roshani Chokshi – March 27th
Roshani Chokshi’s writing is some of the most gorgeous I’ve ever read. This new book is a middle-grade novel based on Hindu mythology and is part of Rick Riordan’s new imprint!! I would love to learn more about Hindu mythology (as I know almost nothing about it), and this is such a great way to do so!!! Chokshi’s beautiful writing mixed with some new mythology sounds amazing!
- Rage by Cora Carmack – June 5th
This is the 2nd book in Carmack’s Stormheart series. The first book, Roar, came out last year. I picked it up with no expectations at all and fell completely in love with the world and the characters. It’s definitely on my list of favorite books, and it sort of left off on a cliffhanger, so I can hardly wait to read the next book, Rage!!!
- Save the Date by Morgan Matson – June 5th
June 5th seems like it’ll be a great day for new books!! Morgan Matson is my favorite contemporary author, and the plot of this one sounds super fun and I know it’ll make me laugh and feel lots of emotions! This sounds like the perfect, cute read for this coming summer!!
- The Darkest Legacy by Alexandra Bracken – August 7th
A new novel is being added onto one of my favorite series ever? Heck yes!!! I absolutely love Bracken’s The Darkest Minds trilogy, and this new book is going to follow one of the characters from the trilogy!! I got so excited when I saw that this was actually a thing, and I highly recommend that you read this dystopian trilogy so we can all read the new book together in August!
- Throne of Glass #7 by Sarah J. Maas – expected September 4th
This book doesn’t even have a title or a cover and it only has an expected publication date, but I know it’s coming out sometimes this year. I think this book might be my most anticipated book of the entire year!! The Throne of Glass series is one of my favorite series of all time, and, as this will be the last in the series, I NEED to find out how everything will end!! (anyone else terrified because they know someone will have to die, but you love all the characters to death and want all of them to be happy?)
- The Lady’s Guide to Petticoats and Piracy by Mackenzi Lee – October 2nd
I read Mackenzi Lee’s debut novel last year, The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtues, and this is a sort of sequel or spinoff book to that one. The first novel was a historical fantasy, but it was so fun and read like a contemporary novel! I laughed so much while reading it, and I’m looking forward to an even better time reading about some pirates and a kick-butt science girl gang!
- Queen of Air and Darkness by Cassandra Clare – December 4th
Cassandra Clare is one of my favorite authors ever. This is the 3rd book (and maybe the last but I can’t remember if it’s a trilogy or not) in The Dark Artifices series! Every Shadowhunter fan is impatiently awaiting this book, including me! I know it’ll tear me apart emotionally, but I’m so ready for it, because I need to know what will happen to all of my favorite characters!
There are so many other books that I could add to this list!! I have a feeling 2018 will be a great year for reading! What book are you highly anticipating this year? I’d love to hear, so I can check them out myself!
Also – I have another question for y’all! Would you guys be interested in reading some posts on writing? Not posts on writing tips (because I don’t feel qualified enough to give advice haha), but more like posts on my writing journey as I delve more into my novel!! Please let me know if this is at all a good idea, because I would love to do it!
Thank y’all for reading my bookish babblings!!
